About Me
I began my college career as a Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering major at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) in August of 1998, and I still use some of the basic engineering skills I learned back then today. For example, I still create renderings using the Solid Edge computer-aided drawing program. Although studying engineering provided a great technical foundation, I decided to change my major to graphic design after 5 years because it brought together technology and art, which are two of my passions. I earned my Bachelor of Art from UAH in 2007.
My most recent position was a Professional Graphic and Web Designer at a research center at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH), my Alma Mater. While the nearly 17 years that I worked there, I designed materials such as scientific posters, logos, signage, and any other visual resources that were needed, both static material and dynamic. The research center is partly funded by NASA, so I also had the great honor to participate in NASA projects. I had the priviledge to design the logo for the NASA Genesis and Rapid Intensification Processes (GRIP) Hurricane Field Campaign (https://ghrc.nsstc.nasa.gov/home/field-campaigns/grip), which was displayed on the Global Hawk unmanned aerial vehicle during the mission in 2010 (https://www.wired.com/2010/09/nasa-hurricane-drone/).
On the side, I have enjoyed print and digital freelance designing for small businesses and organizations. I have designed logos for local businesses like Hook and Bobbin, Covert Productions, and organizations like the North American Vocal Ensemble (NAVE) (https://www.youtube.com/@NAVEVoices). In addition to all things art, I enjoy spending time watching sci-fi shows and movies, anime, volunteering with the local Girl Scout troop, choral singing, photography, sketching, and spending time with friends and family.
